The Burning Mountain

Book 1 · Ages 8 to 12 · Available now

The Burning Mountain is waking. And it will not wait.

When the ground twitches beneath Monty's boots on the survey ledge, he knows the quiet is over. The Burning Mountain, silent for generations, is stirring, and a whole village lies in its path.

No superheroes are coming. Instead there's a team: bear engineers with instruments, plans, and each other. As ash falls, bridges fail and the lake begins to boil, Lina listens to what the mountain is saying, Gertie plans for survival, and Axel flies the run no one else can.

You can't stop a volcano. But you can be ready for it.

Parents and teachers will recognise the heartbeat under the adventure: courage is useful, but knowledge under pressure is what gets everyone home. Readers aged 8 to 12 get the rush of a disaster story that still respects cause and effect. Every choice has weight, every tool has a reason, and the line that stays when the ash clears is the series promise itself: engineering is the superpower.

Frightening things happen in this story. Nobody faces them alone, and nobody panics. Children finish it wanting to build something.

More than a story. Sixteen chapters of adventure, then the book keeps giving: The Real Burning Mountain shows readers the true events behind the fiction, The STEM Behind the Story unpacks the engineering the bears used, and the BEAR Engineering Challenge invites your child to build something of their own. Every technical term links to the free BFOE Glossary on this site.

The Satellite Whispers

But who to?

Book 2 · Ages 8 to 12 · Coming Sept 2026 · Notify me when it launches

She isn't haunted. She's been invisible for forty years.

High above the island, a satellite the size of a lunchbox waits for her first flight. The cubs of the Island Sky Club built her themselves and named her Ti Zetwal: little star. Her job is simple. Carry letters between schools. A postbox in the sky.

Then, on a channel the world stopped minding forty years ago, Fingers hears something. A whisper. Steady, patient, faithful.

Somebody has been up there all along, watching the sky and writing down everything she sees. Nobody knew, and nobody was listening. And she is running out of time.

You can't hear a whisper from space. Unless you build something that can.

If Book One asked what you do when the ground turns against you, Book Two asks what happens when somebody has been speaking for forty years and nobody thought to listen. The manuscript is complete across all eighteen chapters; cover art and the retail edition are in progress, and the cover shown here is concept art while the finished design catches up. The Atlantis Ridge

(working title)

Book 3 · Earth track · In development

The echo under the ridge was only the beginning.

Deep beneath the ocean, the ground is getting ready to move, and when it does the sea will answer with the wrong kind of speed. Reading the ground, protecting the shore, building against a deadline measured in waves rather than weeks: that is the promise, and it is as much as we'll say until the story earns its title.

No sample chapters yet. When Chapter 1 exists, the same read-in-place panels you see on Books One and Two will appear here.
